Despite Leicester City sitting three points clear at the top of the Barclays Premier League, Marc Albrighton insists that not one player is feeling the pressure as they prepare to take on Manchester City.

That game takes place on Saturday afternoon inside Etihad Stadium in a meeting of first against second and a match that is arguably the most difficult the Foxes will face this term.

But while there are expectations on teams such as Manchester City and Arsenal to perform consistently at the top of the table, few expected Leicester to be battling so high at this stage, and Albrighton thinks that’s helping them to perform.

“None of the lads in there are feeling any kind of pressure,” Albrighton told Foxes Player HD. “Maybe it’s because we’re not meant to be where we are and nobody would put us where we are.

“If we finished the season on the same amount of points that we’ve got now it’d be a brilliant season. The pressure is non-existent in the camp. We just enjoy our football and have put ourselves in a position where we can do that. It’s great to be going out on a pitch feeling like that.”

Without pressure, performances have blossomed. Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Liverpool at King Power Stadium was the team’s fifth clean sheet in six games while Jamie Vardy’s stunning first goal had the football world raving.

Albrighton added: “The defenders were the first players to say about the clean sheets. They’re getting the credit that they deserve for some brilliant performances this season, they’re getting that credit now and we’re still firing on all cylinders at the other end."

On Vardy’s stunner he said: “I was about on the half way line, I couldn’t keep up with him! That goal, if he ever scores another anywhere close to how good that was then he’ll have done well.

“It was an unbelievable strike and he had no right to hit it from there. That’s probably why [Simon] Mignolet wasn’t expecting it. It’s something special and he’ll be able to watch that forever and a day.”
