After making his first start since November, winger Jeffrey Schlupp was delighted to play a major role in Leicester City’s 4-0 victory over Swansea City at King Power Stadium on Sunday.

The Academy graduate was highly-effective on the left flank as his combination of pace and power persistently caused problems for the Swansea back line.

The win came courtesy of a goals from Riyad Mahrez, Marc Albrighton and Leonardo Ulloa’s brace, with Schlupp setting up the Argentine striker’s second goal.

It proved to be the Ghana international’s first start since the 2-1 victory over Watford back in November, having spent a number of weeks out due to a hamstring injury.

And while Schlupp’s individual performance was excellent against Swansea, he admitted he was just happy to help his side record their biggest victory of the season.

He told Foxes Player HD: “We came out and wanted to get a quick start after a tough game last week and the match went well. We came away with the three points and four goals.

“We missed a key player in Jamie Vardy and we’ve proved to everyone that we can still score goals without him.

“It (starting against Swansea) gave me a massive boost. That was my first start since November, obviously with the long-term injury.

“It was a massive boost and I went out there and thought I did well, contributed to the team and helped them get the three points.”

Leicester’s work ethic has been highlighted by many admirers throughout the season and Schlupp was another example of a player giving his all for the Foxes.

He added: “It gives me a lot [of confidence]. I went out there and he (Claudio Ranieri) told me what he wanted to do – to be direct and use my pace. I thought I went out there and did that.

“I said to myself and the boys that I’ll give my all. Whether it’s 60 or 70 minutes, I’d run myself to the ground. I did tire and obviously I came off, but I gave it my all.”
