Morgan and his Foxes team-mates are in Hong Kong for the Premier League Asia Trophy and the 33-year-old admits he is already excited for the new campaign under manager Craig Shakespeare.

The City boss has bolstered his defensive ranks this summer with the signing of Harry Maguire from Hull City and Morgan admits he is looking forward to playing alongside the powerful defender next term.

Speaking during the official launch of the four-team competition in Hong Kong, Morgan provided an update on how both Maguire and fellow summer signing Vicente Iborra are settling in.

He said: “They are looking very good. Iborra has come in, he is looking good. He has okay English so we are just trying to understand him and make him feel part of the team and as welcome as possible.

Morgan Eager To Get Started

City skipper Wes Morgan addresses the media in Hong Kong ahead of Wednesday's Premier League Asia Trophy tie against West Brom...

“Harry has played in the Premier League for a long time. He knows what it is all about and he has settled in very well. He has got on brilliantly with the boys [in pre-season training and in Austria last week]. It is still early days but they haven’t done their initiation yet.

“We are looking forward to that as well. It is a secret. It depends if the Leicester media catch it or not!”

With the signings already made, it has been suggested that City may explore new tactical options next season. When asked to comment, Morgan revealed that he and his team-mates are ready to embrace anything Shakespeare has in store for them.

“We are ready for whatever the manager asks from us," he added. "We have played the game a long time. Whatever shape or formation we decide to go with for that particular game, we will be ready.”

Morgan was forced to sit out much of the action towards the end of last season but the Jamaican international is confident those problems are now firmly behind him.

With a full pre-season under his belt this summer, the City skipper is confident of going on another run like the one which saw him make a remarkable 88 consecutive Premier League starts, ending in March.

“It has been good,” he continued, sat alongside his manager ahead of Wednesday’s clash against West Bromwich Albion at Hong Kong Stadium (11am BST kick-off).

“I missed the last couple of months of the back end of last season which was disappointing. I had plenty of time to recover and rest, and I have come back into pre-season feeling refreshed and ready to go. Touch wood no issues so far.”
