The Foxes winger scored in a 3-0 victory over Latvia at Vitality Stadium on Tuesday evening after coming off the bench for a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands last week.

Gray, 21, will return to the Club’s training ground on Belvoir Drive this week before beginning preparations for the visit of Chelsea to King Power Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

“It was a good result,” he said, following the match on Tuesday night. “It’s always good to come away with these boys. The quality is high-end. A good day all round.

The Foxes winger wheels away after scoring in a 2019 Euro U21 Qualifying match against Latvia at Vitality Stadium.

“We’ve got the Under-20s from last year. The talent coming through is very, very bright. It’s another season to look forward to. We showed how we can play.

"In the draw against Holland, we could have been better, we understand that. It’s part of gelling together. I think over time we’ll turn out to be a very strong team."

With several new faces being promoted through the English youth ranks this summer, Gray says that he has become a more authoritative figure in Aidy Boothroyd’s squad.

“It’s a pretty fresh squad with a lot of new faces,” he added. “Having been involved in the last campaign, I do feel like a more senior member of the team.

I feel like more of a leader and more mature in what I do.

“I feel like more of a leader and more mature in what I do. Last year I had Nathan Redmond and [Nathaniel] Chalobah. It’s good to still be involved and if I start, I start.”

Gray was also delighted to find the back of the net for his country and the former Birmingham City winger is keen to continue much in the same manner in a City shirt.

“Any opportunity I get I want to let my feet do the talking,” he continued. “That’s what I do every time I play and that’s what I did tonight. It’s good to score, it felt like a relief.

“That’s what I needed for my confidence so I can take that back into Leicester and see what happens on Saturday.

“It’s going to be a good game [against Chelsea], being at home. I’ve got this game over and done with now and I’ll head back to Leicester and focus on that.”
