Chilwell Optimistic Ahead Of Southampton Clash

- Ben Chilwell believes hard work has helped yield some fine performances away from home in the Premier League this season
- The Foxes next take on Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday evening (7:45pm kick-off)
- Chilwell says his side can be proud of the way they have acquitted on the road this term

After Saturday’s third straight Premier League win – a battling 3-2 triumph at Newcastle United – Claude Puel will return to St. Mary’s Stadium to take on his former club Southampton.

The Foxes sit five points above the Saints after 16 Premier League fixtures and Chilwell believes while Wednesday’s opposition possess plenty of talent, his side have the ability to claim all three points.

“Every game in the Premier League is tough, especially away at Southampton,” Chilwell told LCFC TV. “They’re a great team and they showed last season how good they can be.

“We’re in good form and we’re confident going into the match that we can pick up another three points.

“We’re going to train and work hard over the next few days leading into that and come the game, we’ll be ready.”

City have not suffered a Premier League defeat on the road since August and, with a productive spell of form also coming at King Power Stadium, Chilwell has been pleased with the character they have shown away from home.

He added: “The one thing that we’re trying to really build on is our form away from home. We know we’re good at home in front of our fans and that’s something that we’ve always, over the last few years, been good with.

“We’re now trying to get points away from home. It’s something we’re working on and we’ve been quite resilient away from home this season. We’re just trying to keep that up and get some more points.”
