Valencia visit King Power Stadium on Wednesday evening (19.45pm kick-off BST) for what will be City’s penultimate fixture of pre-season before they get their Premier League campaign underway at Old Trafford.
Iborra says the team from eastern Spain are a huge part of the city’s identity and knows first-hand what it is like to come up against them both home and away.
“In Valencia, the football is very important,” Iborra told CITY Matchday Magazine in an exclusive interview. “There are different teams, of course my team Levante. In Valencia, normally the biggest club in the last few years is Valencia.
“There is history, they’ve had seasons in Europe. The last few years hasn’t been easy for them, but last season was very good. They are in the Champions League, they have a team with a lot of quality players.
“They have a lot of fans and their stadium is beautiful. Playing there is very special for me because I played for the other team of the city – I liked to play in that derby.”
