Following a 0-0 draw at Molineux, Danny Ward saved three spot kicks while Rachid Ghezzal, Vicente Iborra and Kelechi Iheanacho found the net to secure City’s fourth round spot.

“Of course, it’s a pleasure, it’s amazing, because last season [vs. Manchester City] the penalties were against us,” Puel told LCFC TV at full-time.

“It’s a good feeling at the end because it was hard work from my players all the game. It was a tough game away against a good team and I think we started well in the game.

“We played a good game in the first half and we had chances to score. [In the] second half, it was balanced because they also had opportunities on the counter attack.

“It was important at the end to have the togetherness to finish with a draw and to be in the lottery of penalties. It’s a good feeling and I am happy for all the players in my squad.

“We can continue in this competition and it’s important because we can win something at the end. They need to play all the time and compete in the Premier League.”

I am worried about this. I hope it’s not a serious injury, of course. We will see tomorrow. He will have a scan tomorrow morning and we will see.

Puel also provided an update on Demarai Gray’s fitness after the 22-year-old was forced to withdraw from the pitch with an ankle injury in added time at the end of the second half.

“He was in a good fitness and a fantastic level in his games,” the City boss added.

“I am worried about this. I hope it’s not a serious injury, of course. We will see tomorrow. He will have a scan tomorrow morning and we will see.”
