Chilwell Taking Inspiration From December Form

- Leicester City will aim to produce more stand-out results against the Premier League’s top sides during the coming weeks
- The Foxes face Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in their next three games
- City were beaten 4-3 by Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday

Against the odds, Jamie Vardy struck the winner as the Foxes defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on 22 December, before City beat current Premier League champions Manchester City 2-1 on Boxing Day thanks to Ricardo Pereira’s stunning effort.

While Claude Puel’s men were beaten 4-3 late on last time out by Wolverhampton Wanderers, Chilwell believes his team-mates can replicate their displays against the Premier League’s elite in their upcoming fixtures against Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

“We’ve got three very tough fixtures coming up, but we said the same thing about the Man City and Chelsea games and we won both of them,” Chilwell said after Saturday’s match. “It’s a strange game, football.

“You can come to places like Molineux Stadium and have hard games and then play bigger teams and play better football. We’ve just got to work hard for them three big games coming up. We’ll give 100 per cent and come back confident ready for them.”

Chilwell felt City were good value for a point from their weekend clash with Wolves, but says they must now begin working towards their encounter with Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday 30 January (8pm GMT kick-off).

The Academy graduate added: “At 3-3, all the Leicester players on the pitch would have taken that result. When we saw the board go up for three minutes [added time], we wanted to hang on, keep it at 3-3 and keep the point.

“It wasn’t the best performance, but we’d have taken that. At the end, for them to get that last goal, it was a real kick in the teeth. We need to work on that for the next game [against Liverpool].”
