Important Match Information: Brentford

The new Premier League season has arrived as Leicester City prepare to host Brentford this coming Sunday afternoon, and there are several things for supporters to be aware of for their visit to King Power Stadium.

- Supporters encouraged to arrive early for opener against Brentford
- Mobile Tickets in place for the game after successful launch in pre-season
- Free beer or water giveaway to take place ahead of the fixture for home supporters
- Rathavatra festival taking place in the city on the day of the game

As always, supporters are advised to arrive as early as possible to the fixture to avoid any potential queuing at turnstiles and to ensure everyone can get to their seats in time for kick-off, which is at 2pm on Sunday.

There are plenty of reasons to arrive early at King Power Stadium and we’ve put together the below information for supporters to familiarise themselves with ahead of their visit.

Mobile Tickets

Following a highly successful launch of mobile tickets for the pre-season friendly against Sevilla, Mobile Tickets will again be in use for the Brentford fixture and going forwards throughout the season.

To ensure the experience is as smooth as possible, the best thing to do is to catch up with our video guide around Mobile Ticket entry, which shows a number of different ticketing journeys unique to various supporter groups.

Matchday changes

Following the reduction in restrictions around COVID-19, the Football Club is delighted to welcome back a number of matchday features for the 2022/23 season, including the re-introduction of matchday mascots.

Alongside this, Fan Cam will return for in-stadium fun before the game, as well as pre-match pyrotechnics and handheld flags on every seat for Leicester City supporters.

Fans will also notice that there will be no clap banners on seats for this fixture, as the Club works with the feedback given to it by supporters during consultations to move towards alternative and more sustainable ways of improving the matchday atmosphere.

Outside of the stadium, a host of activations will take place on a special stage on the brickweave, located close to the Foxes Fanstore. Supporters can try their luck on the prize wheel, as well as a host of other fun and games in the build up to the action on the pitch.

Singing section

Another change supporters may notice for the 2022/23 campaign at King Power Stadium is the introduction of a Singing Section in SK1 as part of a year-long trial to improve the matchday atmosphere.

The move comes after a series of trials in cup matches and an extensive period of consultation with supporters to review its success and potential for long-term implementation at King Power Stadium.

Rathavatra festival - Avoid delays

Supporters are also asked to allow extra time for their journey due to a Hare Krishna festival of Rathavatra taking place in the city centre on the day of the game, from 12:30pm until 2:30pm.

A decorated chariot will lead the procession, which will travel from Gallowtree Gate, Haymarket and Belgrave Gate, along Belgrave Road and on to Cossington Street Recreation Ground. Rolling road closures and parking restrictions will be in place during the event, which could impact the travel plans of some Leicester City supporters.

Fan behaviour

Following an increase in anti-social and criminal behaviour across football grounds over the last 12 months, the FA, Premier League and EFL have introduced new measures and stronger sanctions to help support a safe matchday environment.

Targeted activity includes entering the pitch without permission, carrying or using smoke bombs or pyrotechnics, throwing objects, drug use and discriminatory behaviour. These acts are dangerous, illegal and have severe consequences, with all identified offenders reported by Leicester City to Police, with potential prosecution to follow.

Anyone who enters the pitch or is caught using pyrotechnics will receive an automatic club ban, which will also be extended to accompanying parents or guardians of children taking part in these activities.

Reporting procedures

If you experience, see or hear unacceptable behaviour on a matchday, report it. Please text 6066 starting your message with FOXES.

The Football Club takes discrimination in all its forms seriously and your support in helping us to eradicate it from King Power Stadium is vital in our mission to continue making football something that can be enjoyed by everyone. Please also refer to the Supporter Charter.

Frictionless kiosk

Leicester City have become the first in Europe to install a frictionless kiosk at its stadium to dramatically improve the speed in which fans can purchase food and drink on a matchday.

The new Tap + Go technology was in action for the first time in the North Stand Family Section for the pre-season friendly with Sevilla last month, with supporters simply needing to tap a payment card upon entry into the kiosk, pick up the items they want and walk out of the gates onto the concourse, where their card will be automatically charged – a process which takes a matter of seconds.

Utilising frictionless technology, Tap + Go is operated via anonymised shopper tracking which recognises the products being selected by customers, before adding them to a virtual basket. Facial recognition is not needed, ensuring complete anonymity.

Checkouts will be replaced by the installation of fully contactless payment terminals connected to the digital barriers upon exit, enabling fans to make purchases in a fraction of the time and with far greater ease.

Ticket resale platform

As part of the Club’s investment in facilities for supporters, and in looking to increase affordability, 2022/23 Season Ticket Holders will have access to Leicester City’s Ticket Resale platform.

The platform is intended to help our loyal Season Ticket Holders on three occasions where other commitments mean they’re unable to attend a fixture at King Power Stadium. For those occasions, they will be able to make their seat available via our Ticket Resale platform, and if purchased, they will receive 1/19th of the cost of their Season Ticket back.
